Dreams

Achieved

Before one agrees to share her or his dreams with somebody else, one has to be sure to trust each other, to motivate each other and inspire each other.
Our relationship proofed to us from the very beginning that all these three points are covered between us, because it needs a lot of trust, inspiration and motivation to keep up an intercontinental relationship over a period of several years.
The first bigger dream for us that we managed to make reality, was to meet and spend some time in Africa, Mozambique.
Next was our dream of living together in a neutral country, is to say neither in Venezuela nor in Germany, but somewhere, where both of us would be equally far away from their family and friends. And here we are living in China.
Living here and adjusting our lives to each other we planned and made an other big dream of us come true, which we planned to be our last adventure without children: Hitch-hiking from China to Germany. Even though we had to skip some parts of the planned journey due to time and visa issues, it still was the adventure we wanted to have before confronting the responsibilities of being parents.
Having achieved all our dreams we had so far, we started to outline bigger dreams for our future together:

International Green Parenting

Having done our last big adventure as a child-less couple we made an other dream come true and gave birth to Handie.
As probably countless other new parents we also felt a little anxious about our new responsibilities. We know a few families that were really inspiring to us but we also saw quite a few people who left all their principles and ideals behind thinking about nothing more but their child. It can be quite scary to see how people change once they have a child.
It is also scary to see how much children absorb other peoples opinions and behavior.
Therefore our dream is to raise our children to be internationally aware even though in their environment the majority of people are hardly concerned with anything happening outside their countries borders.
Therefore we also dream to raise our children in a green way even though they are surrounded by a world of competitive consumption.
We just started and it will still be a long way to go before we can say, that we really raised our children in an international and green way.

A Self-sustainable Farm in Mozambique

We have been together to Mozambique two times by now, visiting a small village called Bilibiza, where Hanaffan had been working in the past.
The second time we went was two years after our first visit together and the situation for our friends in the village seemed to become worse. The poverty is extreme in many parts of the country and the work of the majority of NGOs does not seem to really make a difference. So, yes we think we can make something different, trying to build up an integrative development project, within which we will give a voice to our Mozambican friends as well.
It is a really long way to make this dream become reality but we are working on it and this dream is the motivation for a lot of actions in our lives at the moment.
For this dream we will need all the support we can get once we provided the foundation.
See how far we got and maybe you would like to support us as well.
